Are bananas OK for diabetes and cholesterol?

Question
Is this eating banana good for diabetic & chol. people

Answer
Bananas are high in both carbohydrate density - calorie for calorie, they have more carb grams than many other fruits and much more than berries - and glycemic index, which makes them rather bad choice for the diabetics.

As to the cholesterol thing, if its high levels in the blood occur, as it often happens, along with diabetes, you cant have them. If, however, you are on a low fat diet to treat hypercholesterolemia alone, it can be OK, but watch your calories: bananas are very energy dense.
