Is distilled water a diuretic?

Question
Hello, I have heard alot about making a drink with distilled water, cranberry juice, lemon juice, and tea to drink to help eliminate excess water retention, is this a good idea? What exactly is distilled water and does it really help lesson water retention? Thanks.

Answer
Rachel,

Distilled water works better than tap water just because there's no salts in it and the body doesn't need to retain water to keep mineral concentrations under control.

It can seem to work as a diuretic, but real diuretics cause the body expel more fluids than is consumed, as do coffee, tea, water melon, cucumbers, Uva Ursi herb, etc.
