Hello Tanya, I have a small nutrition question. I'm also Russian but, god help me, I have no idea how to type in Russian. Anyway, I'm a gymnast and recently I had several stress fractures. Doctors keep pushing me onto extra calcium. I can't speak for everyone but my family is not much of coffee lovers, we drink tea. And I only drink tea with milk (2%). In total I probably go through two cups of milk during the day. My question is this: Since I dump the milk into hot tea does it still retain the calcium?

Hi Sam,

Sorry for your fractures, hope you get well soon. The answer is yes, it does retain the calcium because nothing bad happens to calcium at the hot tea temperatures.

In two cups of milk, you get 59 percent of daily recommended calcium while 5 oz of Eedam or Gouda cheese supply you with more than 100 percent.

You might want to think of more calcium sources including dark green leafy vegetables, which have health benefits beyond calcium.
