lose skin

Question
Hello Mr Abbott,

First of all I would like to thank you for reading my question.

I have been fighting bulimia since my mid teens.  I dropped a lot of weight (about 20 kilos in a month) when I was 19.  I am now much better and have regained most of the weight that I had lost (I am 26 now) but my skin is very lose and "sagging".

Someone suggested I take protein supplements, they said it would build muscle and my skin might become taut.  I don't work out regularly and I don't want to get fat with the protein shakes.

I would like to know what type of protein (eg whey, soy etc) would be best for me to gain and build muscle mass.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Regards,

Sarah

Answer
I'm glad you asked this before just believing the sales pitches and rumors.  No, there is no pill, additive or product that will tighten skin.  In fact, no supplements actually do anything except, at best, "supplement" your body's overall nutritive balance.  For instance, if you don't eat enough fruit, a supplement of vitamin C (which can be in any form) may help.

The same applies for all other vitamins and minerals.  They don't do much, if anything, all alone.

Also, a balanced diet is the best way to go for overall weight control, which will contribute more to toning than you think.

You don't need a work out as much as you need a 15 minute walk a day.  It'll make a huge difference.
