Retired gymnast and weight gain

Question
I quit/retired from gymnastics about 8 years ago but still workout on a fairly regular basis. When I was in gymnastics it was far easier for me to achieve muscle tone but I'm having a problem doing so now. I am currently 22 years old, 5'2" and around 125lbs.

My question is, how can I alter my diet so that my muscle tone reflects the amount of muscle I still have?

Answer
Hi Kim,

As a gymnast and also knowing other gymnasts, I guess you were on quite a strict diet. If so, that would have caused real unbalance within your body, so as soon as you stop, symptoms appear which are in the form of skin disorders, weight gain, feeling less healthy etc.

Rebalancing is the key, and you do it with a foundation of quality protein every day. Protein fuels the muscles and keeps you feeling full for longer.

I can give testiment to protein shakes as I have been using my own for 4 years now and feel my best ( I am 42).

In Christmas 2005 I damaged my shoulder so could not do any exercise for 2 months solid. Previous to this I had been very active. By keeping on the shakes I did not put on any fat and retained my lean muscle mass.

If you'd like to learn more about protein and the shakes go to my site below and enter /information after the web address.

All the best
