Weight loss and exercising

Question
Hi. I'm a 16 year old girl and I'm 220 lbs. I play soccer and I also throw for my track team. I was wondering how to lose weight, since I know my weight isn't exactly healthy. I play sports, so I do keep in some shape, but I never lose weight. And it's frustrating. Is there some sort of plan that I can stick to so I can begin weight loss?

Answer
Hi Catie, To lose weight you will have to count calories. Write down everything you eat in a day and check labels, get a book, or look on line to figure out how many calories are in the serving size you eat. Stick with 1500-1800 calories per day and you should lose 1-2 pounds per week, more if you are active everyday. You will find that whole fruits and vegetables contain less calories as opposed to fast food, donuts, cookies, sugar cereal, etc. So choose healthy foods and you should not go hungry. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,slimkids.com
