A question about exercise

Question
Hello my name is kia and I have a question regarding exercise. I am by no means overweight(5'1 102 pounds) but i try to exercise everyday for 20-30 mins. The problem is that my mother and stepfather think that i shouldnt exercise because i am so small and that i have no reason to exercise. I have tried to explain to them that I exercise not just to maintain my current weight but to also keep down my risk of diabetes and high blood pressure(both of which my mother has). My mom says that the reason she doesnt want me to exercise is because when i get to where i really need to(im hoping not to get to where i need to) that my body will become so use to being exercised that it will be hard to lose weight when i really need to. I have told her that i think this is false but she refuses to listen. So i am asking you since you are an expert in this area. Is exercising bad for me since i am skinny? What are the benefits other than weight maintainence? Does exercise along with diet help on the prevention of diabetes and high blood pressure? I am going to show the answer to my mother so please tell her that there is nothing wrong with exercising on the treadmill for 20 to 30 mins a day(i take a break on sat and sunday). Oh and also if i start to lift weights will i end up looking bulky like a man?

Answer
Fitness is a journey, not a destination. There's nothing wrong with exercising every day if you enjoy it. You seem to be in good health, so I wouldn't worry. Just listen to your body - if you start to feel run down at all, take a day or two off.

No... you won't become "bulky like a man" from lifting weights. You would have to spend HOURS in the gym lifting AND eat tons of food to put on bulk like weightlifters do. They eat tons and tons of protein to get that look. Lifting weights is healthy for men AND women.
