Protein needs and overconsumption

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I would like to know if it is ok to have a protein bar containing about 20% protein when I am not exercising vigourously. I also include protein in my daily meals. Am i exceeding the protein requirements?
Thank you

ANSWER: Dear Finny,

Unless you have kidney or gout problem, you can hardly overconsume protein. In a healthy body, protein intake/output is controlled and if one day you take too much, the excess is used for energy or to preserve your muscle next time you have too little protein in foods.

I am 1.60m tall and weigh 48kg. Would eating the bars make me build a lot of muscle?

Answer
Finny,

With your weight, you probably can indulge yourself in eating the bars. However, without right strength training routine, you cant expect gaining a lot of muscle.

BTW, how many carb grams is there in the bar? Asking because about half the protein is converted into carbohydrates in the process called gluconeogenesis. You might want to think about better ways to get your carbs, not just "empty carbs" from the bar, but nutrient-loaded carbs from fruits and whole grains.
