slimfast

Question
Hi!
My friend and I are trying to lose weight together.
She is taking meal replacements for breakfast (she only had toast anyway) and lunch, and a eating suppeer. I am cutting my calories by the same amount but still having three meals and increasing my cardio by running three days a week.
Its been a month and she has lost seven punds and I have lost two. Whats with that?
I have noticed  that one the days (and there are several every month) that I stay to work late, then come home to bed without supper, the next morning my belly has noticeably shrunk!
Do we have different metabolic types or something? We have similar ancestry and body types.
Maybe I would benefit by having a slimfast at SUPPER instead of lunch?

Answer
Hi, Sue

I think it's great that you and your friend are losing weight together.  It always helps to have support.

However, you're right in that you two have different metabolisms and will lose weight at different rates.

If it makes you feel better, over the past month, I've lost only 2.5 pounds.

One thing I would suggest in terms of eating would be to make sure that you do have something for supper everyday.  There is no advantage for skipping meals and starving yourself.  If you're going to use slimfast, you can use that for any meal you like, as long as that is not all you have.  Make sure you have at least one meal that includes real food.

Also, another thing that would help your metabolism would be for you to incorporate strength training 2-3 days for 20-30 minutes.  By adding more lean muscle mass, you are increasing your body's ability to burn calories throughout the day.

But don't worry if you don't lose the same as your friend.  You're different people.  Just aim for safe and long-lasting weight loss.

I hope that helps.
