Protein bars and children

Question
My 10 year-old son just finished with youth tackle football and wants to weight lift with myself to stay in shape, will my question is he sees me eating protein bars and is wanting to do the same so is it safe for him?

Answer
Hi David, I would say if the protein bar doesn't contain herbal metabolic enhancers or weight loss ingredients, then it should be fine for your son to consume. Check the packaging and call their 1-800 number if they have one. Ask them if the product is approved for pediatric patients. If you can't get an answer from the company, then ask your son's pediatrician or family doctor about dietary supplements.  Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
