Question
Hey,
I have a slight problem. I have one son he is 13 and I have noticed he is putting on a bit of weight. I just noticed as he was going to the shower that he had a few rolls of fat. He isnt very sporty and he loves videogames. I have tried to cut down his eating of snacks. He often goes round to friends house or the park and I think he eats loads their. He loves soda and does drink alot of it. He just seems to recently be eating loads of cand and chocolate bars. I am slightly worried about the fat he seems to have got. He is 190lbs and is 5ft8. I don't think he's noticed but he does seem to be protective wehn i tell him to go and do some exercise outside. Have you got ony suggestions to try and make him exercise or any form of fitness.
regars,
Harriet

Answer
There often isn't much you can do or say to a teenager to get them to lose weight. They have to want it on their own. Of course, you can try to just BUY healthy foods and keep those around the house, but if you PUSH him, he's likely to rebel and eat more junk food. Switching to diet soda is a first step. Get rid of all of the snacks and other junk foods around the house. Suggest that the two of you take a WALK from time to time.

I use voice dictation software to "type" a lot of my answers here on AllExperts, so I apologize if some of my words are wrote (like "two" instead of "to" or "too") or my capitalization and punctuation isn't perfect. I try to edit any mistakes I notice, but they do sometimes slip by. Thanks for understanding.
