Question
Hey I have a couple of questions. I been exercising on a regular basis but now realize I need to eat more healthy as well to lose the weight I want to lose. My question is how many calories do I need in a day just to maintain my weight? I am a 26 year old male, 6 feet tall, and around 240 pounds. I have tried several online calculators for this, but keep getting different answers. I was hoping maybe you could help. If I could find out how many calories I need just to maintain my weight, it would really help me form a good diet plan. Also, what is the lowest amount of calorie intake you would recommend in a day? If you need some more info from me to better answer my question, just let me know. Thanks.

Answer
How many calories you need in a day vary based on your age, weight, and level of activity. Only you can answer this question - and the number is going to change from week to week. I would recommend start at 2000 calories and adjust up or down from there based on whether or not you're losing or gaining weight (with all other factors, including amount of exercise) being equal.
