Counting calaories - the best way to lose weight?

Question
Hi tanya, I think you may be the person to ask.
I've been trying to lose some weight.  I'm not terribly overweight but would like to drop minimum 12 lbs.  max.
around 15 or so.. I like salads and I eat them on a regular basis.  But my salads have everything in them.
I have, besides the usual greens & carrots,  kidney beans chick peas, canberry raisins. peppers onions, sometimes not as much.  But most times yes.  I feel I'm getting my vegetables.  But now there are some people who say I'm probably eating too many calories.  I just can't believe it's that many.  So I was wondering what you suggest for weight loss.  Obviously it's just eating less.
but then again you're hungry.  My friend has this problem
She just can't seem to count calories she's always hungry.
So as I said we're looking for some direction, and suggestions.  Thank you.

Answer
Dear Jan,

Of course, if one strictly follow the rule, he/she loses weight. But I do not believe, and all my experience supports my disbelief),  that this can be a fundamental solution. Research show that more than 90 percent of calorie-counting dieters gain weight back, plus some.

It's hard to explain in a short answer, but you can use this information:
