Fruits on a cycling ketogenig diet

Question
Hi Tanya-
I was hoping to get some advice on some diet guidelines.
I am a very active person who is looking to really tone up and loose that last bit of fat storage.  I keep reading about these ketosis diet plans and cyclical ketosis diet plans.  I wanted to get an expert advice on if this is actually something one should do.  I understand on the CKD diets you limit your carbs during the week and load up on the weekends.  I have no problem limiting carbs, but does that mean no fruits either??? I am just looking for some guidance on some rules of thumb I can follow to really promote fat burning in my body.
Thanks!

Answer
Kate,

CKD type of diets make sense only if you do a lot of weight training because the carb-up days or times of the day supply carbs to go to the muscle glycogen. However, any cycling or rotation, ketosis including, is good for you because this way, you make your biological adaptation systems works, plus ketosis, even not permanent, makes you burn more calories that dissipates through your skin as extra heat, up to 300 Cal. a day. But there's more to it: you eat less while your ketone's levels are high and you have no cravings.

So! If you want your fruits, then do your weights, or have fasting days to burn your fruit carbs off, or try the intermittent, every day fasting as people do during the Ramadan fast -- anything to burn carbs, then you'll be able to burn the fat, not before!
