I like to make my own mixed vegetables. I know variety is the spice of life, but if I were to limit myself to, say, 5 different vegetables, which would you recommend and why?

I can't go there, but I will offer something to help pick and choose:
go for intense color. Purple cabbage over green, broccoli instead of cauliflower, and so on.

Gimme my carrots, raw and cooked.

Goes for fruit as well, blueberries are anit-aging.
