Metabolism/synthroid

Question
Can I still increase my metabolism through diet and exercise when I am on Synthroid and my Thyroid is non functioning?

Answer
YES!
You are taking synthroid as a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone your body is not producing, so your metabolism should be normalized on the medication.
Exercising will increase the calories you burn because it will increase your energy expenditure.
Furthermore, if you exercise enough to develop some more muscle mass, this has a higher metabolic need than other tissue (such as fat tissue).

You are not a prisoner to your faulty hormone metabolism!
You can diet and exercise and lose weight just like anyone else :)
