Question
I have had two kids, one is with me and the other my aunt adopted, my depression from the adoption has gotten me into weight trouble. I weigh 180 and i want to be back down to 135 with a flat stomach. How do i do that with out killin my self. I have tried every diet and i just cannot seem to lose weight.. Please help i want to feel comfortable with myself and be able to look in the mirror and feel happy about myself...thanks dannielle

Hi Dannielle,

It's good that you feel uncomfortable right now. It's a sign that you are ready for a change. Most people lie to themselves and tell themselves that it's okay to be a little overweight until it's too late.  

You can lose weight without starving yourself if you eat foods that are big in volume, high in fiber and resistant starch (indigestible starch) but low in calories & fat content. See these recipes and try them at home:

It's also a good idea to drink 2-4 cups of plain green tea because it increases your metabolism.

My last advice is to do weight training exercise because as we age, we lost our muscle mass. If you don't have access to a gym, you can use dumbbells or your body weight (squat, sit up, push up)because muscle is the calorie eating machine in our body. 1 lb of muscle consume 50-100 calories/day compare to 1 lb of fat consume only 1-3 calories/day.
