Soccer Speed and Nutrition

Question
QUESTION: Hi Phil,
My name is james and i am a soccer player.I play as a wide midefielder so i need alot of speed. At the moment i am 17 years old, 5 ft 9 and weigh 118 pounds. About a year ago i was extremely fast. Then i began to think about nutrition and i thought that eating less food would make me even faster.I started restricting my calorie intake and even became bulimic and was throwing up after most meals. This has been going on for about a year now and i fell that i have gotten alot slower.I feel my spped/agility/quickness has decreased and i was told that this was because i lost muscle mass and wasnt eating enough. Is this true? However.I am recovering now but i need some tips on how i can get my speed back.Did i lose my speed because i was bulimic and wasnt eating enough? Please help asap.
Thanks
James

ANSWER: James-

of course its true you are not eating enough to support your muscle gain new muscle or perform at a high level you need to eat I have been where you are fix it NOW. Food is your fuel of life and performance. Your not getting enough to live a healthy life which is your bodies $1 goal, to Live, it could care less if you can play soccer well it wants first and foremost to live, you have to give it excess to perform well.

So yes Number one start eating and get that fixed and youl see your performance come back fast.

If you want a great strength coach in Ireland I would look up Jeffery McNeil. He is a great coach and would get you straightened out. He just stayed about 6 weeks her at our facility getting training and I am sure could get you performing better then ever, in a short amount of time.

QUESTION: Hi again. Thanks for the great advice. How many calories would i have to eat a day as i train almost everyday and find it very hard to put on weight?
Also, would eating all this extra food effect my speed and agility?
I have started doing weight training in the gym also.
James

Answer
James-

dont complicate it, eat more and stop purging your food start there I wouldnt have you track calories at ALL, you need to get a relaxed and healthy relationship with food.

Will it effect your speed and agility? of course it will. Like I said youll actually have energy to move fats and put on some body weight to perform better.
