working out 5 days a week and not loosing weight!

Question
For the past 7 weeks I have been working out 5 days a week (3 days of strength training & 2 days of intense cardio) and so far I have not lost 1 lb! In fact I have put on about 4.  I weight myself once a week so I don't go crazy.  And I take my measurements every 30 days and they are getting smaller and my my body fat % went down 1.5 % in the first 30 days.  After the first 30 days I started adding in more cardio and doing 20-30 minutes with 1 or 2 of the strength training days but still not seeing the scale go down.

I have been watching my food and following weight watchers points (although somewhat loosely) and am keeping portions in check. I know I am doing the right things so why is my body not responding in the weight department....help, I don't know what else to do.

Answer
CONGRATULATIONS!

It sounds to me like you've burned some fat and built up some muscle! You said it yourself - you've gained 4 pounds and your measurements are getting smaller.

Forget the scale! The real measure of your fitness is how you LOOK and FEEL. If your clothes are looser on you, then you know you're burning fat.

Remember, muscle is more dense than fat, so the same volume of muscle weighs more. Keep building that muscle and burning that fat.
