Hi,
A friend told me garlic is more helpful when eaten raw instead of cooking it in the food. That i should slice a clove into small pieces then chew and swallow atleast once on a daily basis. Is this correct, are there possible problems?

Hello,

It depends on the reason for eating garlic. Cooking destroys anti-bacterial and anti-viral components, however, both raw and cooked garlic have the heart-protecting, blood-thinning, cholesterol reducing, de-congestive and anti-cancer benefits.

As to the potential problems, they usually are: bloating, if you eat more than 3 cloves of raw garlic, stomach irritation, if you eat it without other foods or drinks, and specific garlic breath - but you can fight the last one by chewing on a spring of mint or parsley.
