Kick starting my work out

Question
Hi Lela,
I've been working out for about 2 months. I was 5'10 @ 156lbs. At first I wasn't loosing any weight at all, but as of 4 days ago I cut beer from my diet. I usually drank 6-8 light beers a night. I switched to vodka & diet tonic water (which I heard wouldn't do any good because of the sugar in vodka)but it seems that in 4 days I've dropped 5 pounds, as of this morning I weighed in at 151. Is it possible that it's from kicking the beer or do you think my work out is just finally starting to show results?
Also- What can I do to help fuel my work outs? I'm not used to this and I admit that some days I half ass it. I'd like to get the most out of my hard work.
Thanks!!

Answer
Rebecca,

Alright I'm a health nut so I can't just let this pass- but I hate a lecture so I'm going to bring it up then let it go- 6 to 8 alcoholic drinks a night? Jeez sister, I wouldn't worry about your waistline so much as your liver! You will save about 100 calories per night drinking vodka and tonics- but it still adds up to around 800 calories in alcohol per day! You would have to bike for an hour at 15 miles per hour to burn that off!

Okay- as far as workouts go, find something you love and throw yourself into it. Date some different workouts- Try Kickboxing, pole dancing, line dancing, power lifting- try as many different workouts as possible in a months time to find out what you like and then do it!

Good Luck!
Lela Simon
