palm oil and cholesterol

Question
Would palm oil increase bad cholesterol in one's body if used in cooking or in frying? what is the best oil for cooking for people with high cholesterol?

Answer
Yes, palm oil is a highly saturated fat and may contribute to elevated cholesterol levels.
For cooking, a poly- or mono-unsaturated fat is recommended, such as corn, canola, peanut, sunflower or safflower oils.

When you use oil to fry foods, use as little as possible and blot the food well to remove the excess grease.
If you are cooking something like an egg and just need a tiny bit of fat, try a cooking spray which allows the pan to be coated with very little oil added.
