which is better??

Question
Hello, I recently found a recipe I am thinking of making and am confused as to which is better option! It says to use chicken thighs with skin on...this way u don't need to use any oil. However I am wondering if it'd be better to have no skin and just use a little oil?? I am most concerned about calories...
I guess another option is to cook with the skin on and take it off when I go to eat it, or will that still add fat/calories?
Please help!! Thanks
Ps.to reference the meal its from Martha Stewart Everyday Food Magazine called "chicken with cauliflower and parsley". Thanks!!

Answer
Hello Amy,

I'm glad you let me know your primary concern was for calories. You probably won't use a different amount of fat using the natural fat under the skin versus pouring on a bit of olive oil. The difference will be that the chicken fat is saturated and the vegetable oil is more heart healthy.

If you take the skin off afterwards you are still going to be eating the layer of fat that lies just underneath the skin and melted into the chicken during cooking, so that won't save you all the calories. It will save you some from not eating the skin itself.

If the finished product looks oily you might try taking the skin off and adding the vegetable oil yourself next time to see the difference!
