Question
QUESTION: Hi,

I am an 18 year old athlete, im 178 cm tall , 65 kg weight. im a bit skinny and i started going to the gym about a year and a half ago had alot of great intensive training periods and other periods were on and of.

I didnt gain weight at all or may be i gained about 3 kg in this whole year and half. So now im heading to supplements and i chose 2 supplements that im convinced with but i want you to advise me about them

1- Optimum 100% Whey Gold Standard.
2- No-Xplode.

and if course if there are any side effects please inform me.

Thank you very much for your help

ANSWER: Sherif-

You don't need supplements at all. All you need is calories. That's it more food nothing magic. If you didn't gain weight you didn't eat more food than you were burning. Its impossible no matter how hard you train to gain muscle and weight if you don't eat excess calories. Calories are the building block to growth. The harder you train the MORE you need to eat, You need to eat more every day and be consistent with your training.

QUESTION: Hi, thanks for your quick reply.

i forgot to tell you that my body type is the one which tends to be skinny and gain no weight it burns calories so quickly i guess its an Ectomorph type.

The thing is eat good but due to some reasons i lack food some times.

I promise you i will give it a try to eat more than what i already eat even my friends cant understand how do i eat so much and dont gain anything.

all i want from this supplements is a short term period use to give me a small boost thats it.
so im sorry for disturbing you but could please advise me about the 2 products i asked you before i just want to know about them everything.

another thing i have to state that i considered homemade protein shakes without using powders or these stuff
and the main ingredients were either peanut butter or raw eggs and the thing is i have G6PD which prevents me from eating beans and nut related products and for the raw eggs i live in egypt and cant get a trusted source of eggs due to bird flu.

so all i need is some help from you about the products that i suggested.

thank you very much for you time. really appreciate it.

Answer
Regardless of your body type the answer remains the same. No the NO-Xplode etc is not going to help you gain weight it has no calories you cant gain weight without caloires. You could take buckets of illegal steroids as supplements and you would not gain weight without more a LOT more food. Its impossible. NO SUPPLEMENT aside from one with lots and lots of caloires will help you gain weight and muscle. The protein could help a small bit as its easy to get in but one serving is still just over 100 calories. I would save the money and put it into more jars of peanut butter, jugs of whole milk, white bread, fatty foods etc that have LOTS and lots of calories to get you in  a positive nitrogen balance. MORE calories in than out is the only thing that will make you gain weight.

It may not be pretty but it's the truth
