Teenage Diet

Question
Hello Laura,

I would like to ask a question about teenage diet.
(I am 16 years old right now)
Currently I am in a basketball team and we practice almost everyday.
Result of that, I now have muscular legs and arms.
If I quit playing, I will be able to lose my muscles right?
But my fat will stay, so what is the best way to lose muscles and fat at the same time?

Hoping to hear from you,
Nozomi

Answer
Dear Nozomi, When you quit playing basketball, your muscles should get softer and feel less firm. The only way to lose muscle and fat at the same time is to eat a low calorie diet, and stop exercising your large muscle groups. The body needs daily protein, and if not eaten in your regular diet, the body breaks down muscle tissue for it's protein needs. Try a diet about 1500 calories per day. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
