Blood type diet

Question
I was adviced to do the blood type diet by my doctor and just want to know what is your thoughts on this. Is this a a good plan and will this help to lower cholestrol? Thanks

Answer
I really cannot imagine what type of doctor recommended the blood type diet.
Blood type tells to whom you can donate blood, or from whom you can receive it, because of an antigen that is present. People with an A or B antigen cannot accept each other's blood type; people with O (represents "zero" for neither A nor B) cannot accept either A or B but must have O blood donated.
There is no other use for blood typing (other than sometimes being able to tell who a child's parents are based on presence or lack of an antigen).

I once wrote a spoof diet called "eating for your eye color" because it makes as much sense..... the color of your eyes does not affect your metabolism or reaction to foods anymore than this blood type.

Well, you asked for my thoughts, so I am telling you this diet has no sound scientific merit at all--especially for lowering cholesterol.

Diet for lowering cholesterol includes reducing fats (especially saturated and trans fats) and increasing intake of fiber (especially soluble fibers).  There are no "fruits to avoid" or special combinations of foods that make any difference.
