Question
Should I eat at a burger restaurant with natural ingredients and more fat or at one with farm raised ingredients and less fat?

Answer
Cameron,

Thank you for contacting allexperts.com. I hope that I can assist you with your question.

Well, there are quite a few variables regarding the two options you mention.  Without more information it is very difficult to give you an intelligent answer.

"Natural Ingredients" is a rather ambiguous term. Natural does not necessarily equal healthy.  There are many natural foods that are not beneficial to the human body and will not promote health.  On the other hand, farm raised ingredients is no guarantee of good healthy foods either.

I would try to determine if either of these food options include organic meat and vegetables.  Certainly, eating organic food is the best choice.  Also, you might want to try to find out what kind of antibiotics, hormones and other chemicals are used in the production of both sources of meat.  You would most definitely want to choose the option that has the least amount of these types of products.

Despite the fact that farm raised foods sounds healthier, it is not necessarily so.  Many "factory farms" not only use the above-mentioned offending products, but they also feed their beef on GMO grain which has been proven to be EXTREMELY harmful.  However, since almost all commercially raised beef is finished on GMO grain, you really must ask and investigate to determine whether or not this is the case in your situation.

Personally, I would choose neither of these two options. Instead, I would purchase my beef at a health food store that can guarantee that the product is GMO free, organic and all-natural. This is an added expense to the consumer, but in the long run this is not something I would take a chance with.  This way you know that you are purchasing the best, and most healthy products on the market.

All of the food that you consume should be unprocessed, whole and natural.  Preferably raw and preferably organic.  At the minimum, you should consume 75 percent raw foods and only 25 percent cooked. This includes vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, seeds and plant oils. Ideally, you should consume no more than 3 ounces of meat twice a week and no dairy products.  Always make certain that any food you eat is all natural and GMO FREE.

Although eating excess fat can be detrimental, we do need a certain amount of it in our diet.  Fat lubricates our joints, keeps our skin supple and protects us from damage on a cellular level.  For an interesting article on a special kind of fat that is contained in cellulite, you might want to investigate my blog at http://everydayhealthandwellness.blogspot.com

It is very encouraging that you have an interest in your diet. In today's society many people are making poor food choices and it is resulting in many medical problems.  By making certain that you make the best food choices, you will find that your health and energy level will remain high.

Best of luck.

Tasha
