How to lose belly fat while gaining muscle

Question
"I am 19, 6'3 and 174 pounds. While that is in a good range for the BMI, I am unhappy with it. By genetics I am an ectomorph; I have very skinny wrists and ankles, and I had a hard time putting on weight when I was younger. That seems to have changed in college - I've put on weight but the wrong kind - fat. I wish to lose the gut, but at the same time increase muscle mass in my arms, legs, ect. I know the key to gaining muscle weight is eating, eating, eating, but I wish to drop the fat so that seems counterproductive. What sort of diet/exercise regime should I have for burning fat and building muscle?"

Answer
Dear John,

The only spot where it's possible to lose fat locally is exactly "the gut" and the only way to do this is seriously limiting carbohydrate intake. It's lucky for you since you need protein to gain muscle. However, it's not possible to give you one simple answer how to do this effectively. I suggest that you start with a free online low carb program proved to be 92% successful at http://bantadiet.com - in due time, you'll find strength training there, too.
