Calorie needs for actual versus target weight loss

Question
Dr. Zilberter

I just started a new diet and exercise plan a few weeks ago and am finally starting to see results when I weigh in. I have been using a calorie counter (which I know is just giving me an estimate and isn't 100 percent accurate) to calculate my calorie needs. However, it does not seem to recalculate when I loose a pound. Do I need to recalculate every time I loose weight?

here are the statistics:

24yo Male
moderate activity level
5' 10'' 180 lbs
wight loss goal of 2 pounds per week for a total of ten pounds total.

BMR 1920
calorie needs: 2976
Daily calorie target to reach goal: 1976

but now I weigh 176 instead of 180. Am I supposed to recalculate all of my figures? Or did this program give me a fairly accurate estimate?

Thank you

Answer
Tyler,

If you calculator requires entering your actual weight, the answer is yes, you must enter your new weight. If it is set to calculate for your target weight, the answer is no. You are right, it isn't accurate in both cases. Measuring body fat percent gives you a better picture of your progress. In our program, we use circumference calculator, it's free to download, just go to http://bantadiet.com than go to "your plans" and I think on day 1, you can download the calculator.
