Im getting fat

Question
Heelp!!!!! I need advice on how to get healthy.

I am addicted to junk food!!

Tv dinners, frozen food, convenient food, soda.. that's what I live off of! I have gained 25 lbs in 6 months!!!

My blood sugar has gone up, my blood pressure has gone up.

I live off of 2 or 3 tv dinners a day and snack on whatever all day long. I am constantly feeling hungry.

I exercise almost every day. I walk/jog at least 2 miles. I have lost 5 lbs this month, but I am still eating like a pig. Help.

Answer
Hi Desirai,
I would suggest finding a dietitian in your area for some personalized assistance with your diet. I will be offering online diet services soon. So check my website in the future. And, if your blood pressure and blood sugar are elevated schedule a visit with your doctor.

I am so happy to see that you are walking! Keep it up and gradually increase how long you do your walks.

To lower blood pressure eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and limit the amount of sodium you get in your diet to 2400 mg or less per day.

To help lower your blood sugar eat only whole grain carbohydrates and stay away from sugar. (Candy, regular soda, cookies, doughnuts, desserts, etc.)

An easy first step would be to switch to the 揾ealthiest?frozen dinners you can find. Lean Cuisine, Weight Watchers are examples. Add a salad that you have made from bagged salad and chopped tomato and low-fat dressing, a glass of milk and a piece of fruit.

Several times a week make chicken breast or fish and have that instead of the frozen dinner. And instead of, or in addition to the salad, have steamed saut閑d or grilled vegetables for some variety.

Gradually learn how to prepare healthy foods. Cooking Light magazine is a great source of recipes.

Do as much reading as you can from credible sources about nutrition. A Registered Dietitian is a credible source. So look for the RD after the author抯 name.

Whole grain breakfast cereal, skim milk and berries would make a great breakfast.

Initially switch from regular soda to diet and decrease the amount to two cans per day. Drink about 8 glasses of water a day.

Lastly, enjoy how great you feel as you become healthier and healthier! Good luck Desirai.
