Healthy weight loss

Question
Hi, I play netball for a total of about 4 hours weekly excluding other physical activities. How many calories is recommended for a 14 year-old in such a situation? Could you give an example of the meals one would eat in the day for such a diet? And when I stop playing these 4 hours of netball, say, due to exams, what is the recommended calorie intake and sample diet you can give? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Scarlett, On average a healthy diet for a active 14 year old would be about 2200 calories per day. If you are not exercising then drop it to 2000. It would be impossible to give menus in an e-mail, you will have to read labels and keep track of the calories in each food you eat and drink. Try to eat foods from all food groups each day-fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat, grains, and healthy fats. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
