Is it true that there's a certain weight at which the body stabilizes and will always try to stick to it?
Like, my BMI is healthy as long as I weight anywhere from 108 to 145 lbs, that's a big range, how comes I can't stay 120 but will always stabilize back at 140? Yes it's healthy but it's not what I want.
I keep on reading to look for what I can do to stay at 120 but I'm sick of all the stuff about 'changing lifestyle', my life is close to ascetic, I have changed my lifestyle long ago.

You don't give any information at your height or current BMI, so it is a little difficult to comment fully. You mention that whilst 140lb is a healthy weight, it is one that you don't favour? If you want to maintain a certain weight, you may simply need to look at how may calories you are consuming daily, and how may you burn. For example, our intake of 'energy-dense' but nutrient free foods is certainly on the increase. I find that many people would be quite surprised at the total amount of calories they consume daily, whilst under the impression that their diets are relatively balanced. Also, many people find as they get older their weight increases and then settles, although they would suggest that they have not made any changes to their lifestyle that would explain such a gain. There are so many factors that influence metabolism, such as: exercise, different food groups, age, sex and so on, that it is difficult to give 'quick-fix' answer.
