I want to go back

Question
Hi!  Thanks for reading my question!

I'm a 32 year old female, not overweight, but trying to be healthier and lose a bit of weight.  Recently, I've done some research on food and the amount of bad things that are being put into it.  Therefore, I decided to go on an extra-healthy diet.

The problem with it is, I've lost all track of intuitive eating.  I did it in the past, where I allowed myself to eat whatever I want in moderation.  I would love to return to that, but I'm so afraid of all the preservatives and junk in certain foods.  However, when I'm eating healthy foods, I find myself overeating them, becoming bloated, having gas, and getting stomach cramps.  It definitely could be due to a massive increase in vegetables all at once, but I found when I just let myself eat whatever (white bread and rice, the occasional soft drink, pizza, wings etc) but listened to my body and stopped when I was full - I did NOT get like that at all, and actually lost weight (and was NOT bloated or gassy).

So I'm confused.  I'm afraid to venture away from the so-called "clean" diet.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

L.

Answer
Hi L
Obviously your body is reacting to a big and sudden change of diet - especially a high content of fiber found in fresh veg, beans etc.... Fiber is something found in only very limited quantities in over-processed foods so it's no wonder that your body is experiencing gas etc... Here's what I'd suggest - rather make the transition slowly, gradually eating more healthier food and less sodas, pizza's etc and I'm quite sure your body will be fine with that.  And by the way, along with your new kind of eating - eat it in an intuitive kind of way - here's how to do that:

Good luck
