Question
QUESTION: Hello, I am 14 and slim/average. I am wanting to become a WWE Diva when I get older. I weigh about 95 pounds and I am about 5'0 or 5'1. What would be a good diet for me throughout about 5-10 years so I can eat right and gain some weight to where I am about 125 and still slim and so I can maintain that weight? If you need me to reword anything or if you need anymore information please let me know.

ANSWER: It's good that you are considering your dietary choices as a long term
health plan. The  food you choose now will impact on your overall health
in years to come and it's important  to establish good eating habits at a
young age.  The obvious advice is to avoid processed/refined/fast/junk
foods and stick to fresh home cooked foods. You are still growing, so it's
important to look at the kind of protein you are eating.  Not too much red
meat or processed meat as this is heavy in saturated fat. Instead, stick
to chicken and fish where you can, or go for a high protein veggie option
(quinoa is an excellent example).  Fish is not only an excellent source of
protein but is also rich in good omega-3 which can actually help to keep
you slim whilst increasing muscle mass. Because there are issues with
contamination, it's advised that women of child bearing age  limit their
fish intake to two portions per week.  However because omega-3 have such a
profound effect on the condition of hair skin and nails it maybe worth
supplementing in order to increase your omega-3 intake (especially if you
don't like fish).  Try Vegepa, it is particularly rich in the omega-3 EPA
and is totally contaminant free. Also try to stick to wholegrain products
and eat at least five portions of fresh fruit and vegetables daily.  This
will provide you with the vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants (and fibre)
needed to keep you looking in top condition on the outside whilst ensuring
you are in top condition on the inside.

QUESTION: What would be a good idea with carbs?

Answer
Your choice of carbohydrates is important, as the majority of your energy
is derived from this food group.    For example, many refined
carbohydrates are stripped of vital nutrients such as vitamins and
minerals needed for growth and development.  A healthy and balanced diet
for your age should include 50% to 60% of the calories consumed as
carbohydrates. The key is to make sure that the majority of carbohydrates
you eat is from starchy foods like potatoes, pasta and whole grain
products from good sources and to limit the amount of added sugar in your
diet.
