Walnuts

Question
Hello,

I am a freelance writer writing an article for Eating Well Magazine. I was wondering if you would mind answering a couple of questions about walnuts.

Could you explain why walnuts are "king" of all the nuts? What makes them different from pecans, almonds, cashews, etc.?

Please also include your written persmission to quote you in my article.

Thanks,

Deb Blanton

Answer
Walnuts are a great nut to eat, but it all depends what you are looking for.For Cardio Health Walnuts have the most Antioxidants, walnuts contains almost twice as much antioxidants as an equivalent amount of any other commonly consumed nut.7 walnuts each day are sufficient to boost human health. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA),has also recognized the cholesterol-lowering properties of walnuts.Walnuts contain omega-3 fatty acids and phytosterols. Omega-3-fatty acids reduce triglycerides levels and slightly reduce LDL levels,Phytosterols appear to slightly lower LDL cholesterol levels. Because of the Antioxidant content is why people consider Walnuts to be the best nut. When it comes to calories and fat the difference in nuts is to close to call. All nuts have pretty much the same amount of calories and fat. When it comes to healthy fat versus unhealthy fat, Almonds tend to be King, when it comes to Protein, Peanuts and Pine nuts have the most.As for the nuts with the most calories you have Macadamias, but as I said the difference is slight ten calories one way or the other. Here is a link to a great sight to compare vitamins and minerals of many different nut that may help you draw a conclusion of your own.
