Getting fit

Question
Hey Lawrence. So about me... I am 22, 6' tall, and weigh about 225 lbs. I have decided I no longer want to be larger than I should be. I started this journey a few months ago. I started off weighing about 255. My first change was diet, I started tracking what I was eating and reducing Calorie intake. I also began to jog. I lost 30 lbs pretty quick and now Im here. About 3 weeks ago, I started doing the Insanity workout. I like the challenge, though of course Im taking many breaks during the exercise, but still remain pushing. I havent noticed any major differences since from when I began until now. My pants are a little looser and I have more cardio stamina, but as far as weight, Im about the same. So here is my main question: How should I go about continuing my weight loss. I want to get in shape. I dont necessarily want to be a muscle builder, but I would like to have a fit appearance and no gut! Should I continue with the Insanity workout? Should I just jog and go to the gym and workout? One of my biggest issue is I dont have a huge amount of extra funds to really invest in the perfect diet. I am a college student, so I have a lot of rice and pasta. I still make sure the calories are good, though the food itself isnt perfect. As far as food goes, what kind of snacks are good for weight loss? Sorry, this isnt a very structured message, but I have a ton of questions going through my head. I want to lose weight, keep muscle, and overall improve my health. Thanks for the help.

Congradulations on knocking off the first 30 pounds. When it comes to losing weight your body goes through cycles. When you reach the point of change in the cycle you have to make slight changes to your diet to give your body what it needs to continue to take off the weight. As for your proper weight it should be no more then 176 pounds. I would suggest that you do mostly cardio, 7 days a week for 30 to 45 minutes and 30 minutes of light, weight training 3 days a week. This will help you to burn fat more efficiently.

Diet is key, but not diet as you think. The type of dieting I am talking about is more diet modification then it is dieting. You should eat lots of veggies and fruit also include a good amount of fiber into your food plan. Take it easy on the breads and pastas also leave the meat and dairy alone as much as possible ,substitute your animal protein with veggie proteins. Snacks should be mostly fruit, vegetable, and high fiber grain. Eat 5 times a day, but small amounts. This type of eating will help to speed up your metabolism. Once your body weight has gotten down to your max body weight then you will start to see that more defined look you want.

Take care
