Can I lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks exercising and doing this?
I'm a 18 year old girl and 145 pounds. I want to go down to 135 in 2 weeks. I plan on working out, drinking water and eating 1200 calories.
No, unfortunately this is not possible.
The reason is, you burn approximately 1800 calories a day. It takes 3600 calories to make one pound (either to gain or lose it). So if you ate nothing for 10 days you still couldn't lose 10 pounds...only 5. And in the meantime, your body would slow your metabolism to compensate for sensing there is no energy (calories) available.
Our bodies try extremely hard to conserve energy and keep our weight from going down. If it were too easy to lose weight, humans never would have survived periods of little food intake over the past thousands of years.
Slow and steady is the way to go--and you'll never have to go on a diet again if you adjust your eating habits to maintain the weight you want to be!
