Losing 30 pounds

Question
Hello Richard.

I'm a year old male, standing at 5'10 and weighing 190 pounds. I checked out a weight chart regarding my ideal weight for my size and I've discovered that it is 160 pounds. My goal is to lose 30 pounds and reach 160 pounds. What kind of exercises can I do to lose the weight?

Best regards,

Julian

Answer
You're a year old and already using a computer? Wow! Congratulations.

Ha ha.

First of all, DON'T LISTEN to those charts that tell you what your weight should be for your height. I've often found they're WAY off. They don't take body COMPOSITION into account. For example, you could be 5'10 and 190 pounds but be RIPPED with lots of muscle and be in GREAT shape... or you could be the same height and weight, but have a beer belly and be in horrible shape.

Personally, I'm 6'0 and my PERFECT body weight is 220 pounds. Sure, that's much heavier than the government charts SAY I should weigh, but I disagree. I'd rather have more muscle - which weighs much more than fat of the same volume.

In any case, my advice on how to lose weight is the same for everyone: count your calories (write down everything), gets lots of cardio, and make sure to include strength (weight) training. See my web site for the specifics.
