Ideal Weight

Question
HI. How do I work out my ideal weight? I go to a gym, and BMI doesn't account for muscle.

I want to to know so I can work out how many calories to eat per day?

Thanks

Answer
Metabolic rate calculations based on weight are not very accurate. Even people who are identical in age, body weight, body composition, height, etc may have very different metabolic rates. On the extreme end this difference can be as much as 30%. See here for more: Metabolic Rate ?How Many Calories You Burn Per Day

Perhaps a better way to figure out how many calories you need is to track your weight and body fat and adjust your caloric intake based on those. If you don't lose weight, then eat less. I don't see a point in making it more complicated than that.
