safflower oil?

Question
Have you heard of this? My sisters friend has lost ten pounds since Xmas, and she said all she did was take a couple teaspoons full a day.
A bottle only costs $7! I cant find much on it except for Dr Oz who I think is a quack.
Thanks!

Answer
Safflower oil is a cooking oil, or one you could use in a salad dressing. Just like canola oil, it's high in a fatty acid called linoleic acid. Early studies show supplementing with 1 teaspoon a day helps some people lose weight over time and helps others lose fat around their waist. Still, it has 45 calories per teaspoon. One would have to be very careful adding this to their diet while not changing anything else if weight loss was the goal. And you could do a lot worse than Dr. Oz ;)
