healthy plate question

Question
Hi.  I have a question about what is considered a healthy dinner plate.  I've read that it's supposed to be half fruits and vegetables, one quarter grains and one quarter protein.  But, is it possible to just eliminate the fruit and just have vegetables on one side?  Or, is it necessary to have both with the meal?  Thanks

Answer
My general rule of thumb is 40/40/20:

40% protein
40% carb
20% fat

Then you can eat as much GREEN veggies as you want, and fruit throughout the day, minding your calorie intake, of course.

See my web site for all the details.
