Diet on high stress

Question
All my life I have been bigger than the other kids, all the time. Due to being overweight I went through early puberty at age 8.By fourth grade I was already five feet tall. Anyways, right now I'm still big but I want to loose weight. For the past two years I started bike riding, doing yoga, and took up running. I managed to loose 15 lbs last year but only because I was so stresses out in college I stopped eating all together for about 3 weeks. Problem is there was a recent death in my family and I gained it all back. What do you reccomend for a person who has been overweight her whole life and lives under high stress? I am 5'7 and weight 255lbs, I'm also 20 years old. I know I run on a high carb diet, primarily because I'm Mexican, and like sugar.  I tried low carb diets but I have no clue how to do that. Got any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Claudia.

First off, STOP doing all of that cardio. All recent research shows that steady state type cardio causes your body to STORE fat and also interferes with fat burning hormones and do NOT do "high" carb diets. They will work short term  but longer term cause rebound weight gain and other issues. In fact, any diet will fail unless you change your habits and lifestyle because, as soon as you end the "diet" and go back to your old habits, the weight will come back.

Being overweight your whole life is a matter of habits. You inherited unhealthy habits and cooking patterns from your parents. The good news is that unhealthy habits can be changed. My entire family is over weight and and I lost 40 pounds right after highschool and have kept it off for over 28 years.

"Liking" sugar is , again, more a matter of habit and physiology. The more sugar and processed carbs you eat, the more you crave.

My Special Report "22 Big Fat Lies Keeping You From The Body You Want" covers genetics, high carb diets, "sugar addiction"  and too much cardio . You can grab it free here : 22 Big Fat Lies">

Also, much to the contrary of popular weight loss myths, "high stress" has minimal effect on cortisol levels and is generally not a cause of weight gain.

The good news is that you are young so it's easy to make life long changes and never start the life long dieting merry go round most people go through.

It's a matter of habits and some basics.

First thing to do is start eating a more balanced diet. This will immediately stop the sugar cravings, increase your energy and help with stress. Second, exercise is a part of a stress, free, healthy body. Yoga is a great way to get the body moving and muscles working while helping to relieve stress and most yoga is good for any weight, size or fitness level.  If you are looking for an effective fat loss workout, you can check out "http://custombodies.blogspot.com/">  Title </a>"> Fat Loss University </a> .
