Wide thighs

Question
I'm not sure if you can answer this, but I don't know where I should ask.
I am a very tall and thin person actually. My only problem is my thighs. I look fine when I'm standing but when I sit down they really get wide.
I know this is normal but when I compare myself to people about the same size as me, it is much more drastic.
I am always embarrassed about this problem. And if this isn't who I should ask then could you tell me where I can?

Answer
Hi Hallie

It sounds to me like you might be suffering from a bit of body dysmorphia - where you're overly self-conscious about your thighs and have a slightly distorted view of them.  Body dysmorphia is far more common than people think and can vary from having a distorted body image about their whole body, or just various parts of it.

So you're likely to see your thighs as bigger than they actually are when you're sitting down.  You're probably thinking that everyone else in the room is noticing how big they are whenever you sit down.  You're likely to either try to dress to hide this or to try and sit in various ways so as to make it less noticeable.
