gastric ulcer post roux-en-y

Question
I had a RNYGB 4.5 years ago and have been doing fine until last Nov(07) Now I have intense pain after eating from L side spleen area all the way to the rectum.  There is also some dyspepsia but not as severe.  Prior to the RNYGB I has two treatment for H. pylori.  Now my stool culture is positive for H. pylori and I couldn't tolerate the tetracycline./flagell routine for treatment.  Now my stools have turned slate grey, no change in diet,  and I'm concerned about bleeding.  The odor is also "old Blood" like and as a ex-medical technologist it's an odor I'm
familiar with.
My physician and I are at a loss except to try another treatment, next up Prevpac.
Any other ideas?  two or more weeks of hell is not a good way to spend the summer.  Thanks  NJw

Answer
Norma,
The only thing I can think of is to check for some partial bowel obstruction - a CT or UGI/SBFT might be helpful.  The slate gray stools sound like the bile is not mixing with food appropriately.

The distribution of pain you describe (unfortunately) does not ring any bells for me.

Wish I could be more enlightening.  Best of luck,
Dr JP
