gastric bypass reversal

Question
i had a rou ny 7 yrs ago. i am always vomiting, getting ulcers and am way too skinny. i experience severe chronic pain. my doc wants to do a reversal. my question is that i have learned to eat differently. is it possible not to gain the weight back

Answer
Jody,

While it is likely that you would regain some weight after a reversal, it is not written in stone.  If you need to do this for your health, I would focus on that, and then figure out what you need to do to manage issues around your weight later.  While I am sure that the thought of weight regain is scary, Having severe pain, ulcers and these other side effects is also not a good way to live your life.  Very few surgeons will recommend a reversal of a gastric bypass unless they really feel it is the right choice for your health.

I wish you the best.

In health,

Dr. Jacques
