Can looking at fashion magazines make you feel depressed about how you look?

I think you know the answer to this one and I'd stop looking at the magazines.
The truth of the matter is, these models have at least 2 - 3 hours of make-up sprayed on their entire body to make them look flawless. They half starve themselves to death and their lives aren't as great as one would think. Many models are getting out of the business because they have wised up to the fact it's one unhealthy place to be and it sure isn't worth your life.
Try getting out and volunteering at a hospital, etc., and get your mind of yourself.
No, magazines do not make me feel depressed about the way I look. It isn't the magazine that's the problem, it is personal. If reading magazines makes you feel less attractive then stop reading them. But, I think there is more to it. Why do they make you feel bad? Is it you being over critical or do you really have some body flaws that you would be happier without? Loving youself for who you are is not the same as saying there is no room for improvement. Most everyone could use a little more sunshine, exercise, fresh foods, rest and peace of mind and that shows on the outside in fat, flabby muscles, dry skin and hair, bags under the eyes, frowns and general lack of vitality. Or, you might just envy their confidence in wearing those revealing clothes for the world to see. The difference is that that is their job, they don't pick the clothes, the hairdo, the makeup or anything. They are living manequins, just a blank slate to be dressed up. They can feel totally confident because there is glue and tape to hold everything together, proper lights and best of all the photo-shop guy to fix anything or just enhance it. Confidence is just an attitude and the cheap fix is to fake it until you believe it too. Smile into every mirror. It works, really.
I look at magazines and I wish I had that kind of money to spend to look that good. It may sometimes depress people, but that's only because your not comfortable with the way you look at yourself. You need to be cofident, Take pride into your originality.
