Kimberly’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I’ve always been overweight and always unhappy that I was overweight. I spent decades searching for the magic pill. The one solution that would work for me.

What made you decide to lose weight?
One day (after dress shopping for bridesmaid dresses) I just broke down with desperation that I would be fat forever. That breakdown gave me the strength to breakthrough with a new approach.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
#1. My thinking! I had a “fat head” and my body was only a symptom of my mental state. #2. My behavior. I allowed myself to follow what I honestly thought would work for me, not what others told me would work.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
Accepting it was a lifestyle change not a diet. So no matter how much weight I lost it was all a part of the journey.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
Immediately but I lost very slow and steady. It was 1-2 pounds on average a week with lots of plateaus in between.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
I lost almost 90 pounds the first year and it took me another year to lose the other 23 pounds.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
4 years. I keep it off with the same mentality I used to take it off. One day at a time.

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I’ve done a total transformation. I left my corporate job to help others lose weight. I now run 5Ks.

Weight loss tip #1:
Play by your own rules. Find what has worked and make decisions about food and exercise based on your needs.

Weight loss tip #2:
Do the next right thing. It’s not about your mistakes, it’s about looking forward to what you can do to correct them.

Weight loss tip #3:
It takes the same effort to lose 100 pounds that it does 10. One pound at a time, one day at a time.

Weight loss tip #4:
Find people who support you. Avoid nay-sayers.

Weight loss tip #5:
Accept the hiccups since they will help keep you on track.

Kimberly’s Weight Loss Eating Plan!

Breakfast:
kimberly-d-weight-loss-21/2 cup eggbeaters and 1 slice of low-fat cheese.

Lunch:
2 slices of light bread, 2 slices of turkey, 1 tsp hummus, 1 serving of veggie chips.

Dinner:
1 veggie burger, 1 pita, 1/2 cup beans, 1 cup spinach.

Snacks or Mini Meals:
I eat 3 snacks a day. 1 cup of fruit salad, 1 tsp of peanut butter with an apple and a weight watcher snack.

Kimberly’s Weight Loss Workouts!

Weight Training:
4 days a week of total body conditioning with hand weights.

Cardiovascular:
4 days a week of running (3-4 miles each day).
