Landon’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
After noticing I had man boobs and my stomach made me look like I was pregnant. Also, after breathing hard after one flight of stairs.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I was starting to feel like my heart was fluttering from time to time when laying in bed at night and I would occasionally have a hard time breathing. REALLY SCARY! Plus, I was no longer getting looks from women like I used to when I was fit.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Diet and exercise! You can’t do one without the other. For the first 7 months I cut out ALL sugar that wasn’t natural. All my sugar came from fruits, milk, etc. Changed from Coke to Diet Coke and quit eating a whole pizza twice a week. Also, for the first 7 months I dropped my calorie intake to 1,500 and cut my fat intake as low as possible. Sugar, calories, fat. 3 keys to my success in the diet. Being so heavy and out of shape meant starting really slow on the workouts. I started going to the track EVERY day and walking for 30 minutes.

After a month I would run a little, (first 3 weeks I could barely run more than 90 yards without wheezing and feeling like I was going to die). Kept building on this, run, walk, run, walk until I was able to run 2 full laps without stopping. I went through a lot a pain with my shins, back, and hips, but I finally got to where I could run a full mile without stopping in about 2 1/2 months. Now I can run for 1 hour without stopping, (I don’t keep up with distance anymore, just time).

After losing 90 pounds, I started lifting weights. At 6 foot 4 inches, weighing too little without muscle makes you look like a number 2 pencil. 🙂 Now I’m into bodybuilding for the last 7 months and I hope to at least end up looking like Matthew McConaughey. Don’t want to be too big because those guys look freaky.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
Staying away from beer and pizza. I still drink, but only on occasions and not more than once a week. Pizza I will have maybe once a month. Honestly, the workouts only took about 2 months before I became addicted to it. Now I feel like crap if I don’t workout.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
Honestly, I started seeing results in 1 month. People started commenting on me losing weight and I was really starting to feel better physically and mentally. When other comment on your success, it kind of gives you that little boost to keep going.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
1 year. I know that is extreme in most cases, but I am one of those people who go all out when I put my mind to something. A lot of painful days, and I’m sure the doctors would have given me disappointed looks because of the amount of calories I cut back on at first and the amount of exercise I was doing, but I figured I was headed for my death anyway, so go for it.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, GOING BACK TO BEING THE WHITE FAT ALBERT!

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
Feel like I did back in high school when I was playing football, soccer, basketball, and running track. Plus, I’m getting those looks again when I pass by people on the beach or at the pool. LOL!

How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
I had already begun my quest before finding ShapeFit, but after finding ShapeFit, I really found good advice and tips for weight lifting and the safe and proper ways to do them. I also LOVE the tips on healthy snacks. I was kind of limited in the snacking area until finding ShapeFit. Now I have a lot of options. ShapeFit is a resource NOT to pass up. You can learn so much from this especially since it is free. THANKS!
