Angela’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
This is my second time losing a lot of weight. I decided this time to approach it from a lifestyle perspective instead of dieting. Dieting just doesn’t work for me long term.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I was walking down the hallway and thought my pants were falling down. That’s how big my butt had become! Jelly not jam!

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Eating more fresh and raw foods. I have at least 2 salads a day with tons of veggies. I also cut WAY back on sugar and grains, and upped my roughage (prunes, psyllium, flaxseeds). Unsweetened carob over chocolate.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
Going out with my mates. I made a decision to stop hanging out with friends to eat or drink and to spend more time being active. I’ve also become a gym rat! Something I never thought about me – yikes!!

How long did it take you to start to see results?
About 2 months. I noticed that I could fit into my clothes without wanting to tear them off as soon as I got home.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
2 years. I’m short and stocky so I’m not really a pounds person, so I focus more on inches and body type. I can lose 5 pounds and drop 2 dress sizes depending on where the pounds were. I decided not to measure success by the scale because muscle weighs too. And, watching the scale just made me too neurotic.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
My goal was 20 pounds. Because my metabolism was improving, I lost a LOT more. It’s been great!! No eating or drinking from 8pm until 5am the next day. I hold off eating until 10am by drinking water. Waiting so late to eat allows my food to digest properly and I’m actually hungry when I eat.

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I feel lighter – physically, spiritually, and mentally. I’ve been able to tackle so many things now because I have the energy to do them.

How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
The exercise videos are excellent. I love the variety on ShapeFit.com, so please keep it coming! The website really keeps me interested and engaged. I get bored easily when I have to exercise indoors. I am absolutely motivated by ShapeFit’s weight loss testimonials. You people ROCK! Let’s keep inspiring and motivating each other. Lord knows it ain’t easy.

Plan and cook your meals a day or two ahead. It REALLY helps. I freeze a couple of days worth of healthy meals so that I don’t run to fast food.

Weight loss tip #3:
Shop at least twice a week. It helps to have lots of fresh food around you.

Weight loss tip #4:
5 ingredients or less. Aim for this if you want to use packaged foods.

Work your plan and stay focused. It’s too easy to get sidetracked. Keep yourself first.
