Emily’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I’ve been unhappy for a long time but in September 2009 it was my breaking point.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I couldn’t find a dress for my sister’s wedding that would fit me and I had to pay double the price because it needed to be custom-made to fit me. It still looked like a tent on me!

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I had to believe in myself that I could do it and to NEVER GIVE UP! I actually had those words tattooed on my back when I reached my first goal weight.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
I have to prepare different meals for my family while sticking to my diet even though temptation is always there.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
Close to 2 months.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It’s been 2 years but I’m still 10 pounds away from my goal weight.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I maintain it by following a healthy diet and exercise program.

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I can now find that perfect little black dress or any clothing that finally fits me without looking like I’m wearing a tent. Most of all, I don’t have to pay double the price!

Emily’s Weight Loss Eating Plan!

Breakfast:
emily-d-weight-loss-story-22 egg whites and whole wheat toast. Learn to eat toast without any butter.

Lunch:
A huge salad with any type of lean protein and a handful of nuts for added crunch. Don’t add any dressing to the salad. Trust me, you will learn to like it. If not, try a little honey mustard.

Dinner:
Whatever my family is eating that night but with a smaller portion size. Try using children’s plates to make sure you don’t go overboard on the portions.

Snacks or Mini Meals:
Popcorn that’s made in an air popper machine. It tastes like paper but you get used to it and you save hundreds of calories compared to the buttered version. I also like to snack on bananas.

Emily’s Weight Loss Workouts!

Weight Training:
I weight lift 5 days a week doing upper body on one day and lower body on the next day.

Cardiovascular:
I do cardio 5 days a week for 30 minutes and I make sure to do my cardio right after my weight lifting workout. I like to do the Stairmaster or the treadmill with added weight either strapped to my ankles or carrying a pair of dumbbells. Whatever it takes to work up a sweat!
